"I would 100% recommend the 5 Day Perfecting School course to anyone interested in pursuing a career in makeup. Having not studied makeup or anything beauty related in college, I was a complete beginner before starting my course with Charlotte, despite this I walked away with a lifetime of knowledge! I felt as though I had learnt so much in such a short space of time, learning so many new techniques and hacks that I would take with me in the future. 

My experience on the course was so pleasant, Charlotte and her team were so welcoming and her attention to detail was impeccable, she allowed me to work at a pace I felt comfortable with, especially towards the end of the week when I felt like I was really getting to grips with things! The makeup provided was incredible! I was able to work with some higher end brands I had always wanted to try out, and this, along with Charlotte’s brilliant recommendations, gave me a really good starting point to build my kit from. Honestly, I was gutted to leave on my last day! I had the most amazing time learning with Charlotte and it made me so excited to take this full time one day rather than just a little side hustle!

Since completing my course with Charlotte at Charlotte Wadley Makeup, I initially began working mobile - I even had my first wedding! I think the attention to detail that Charlotte picked up on during my training with her, prompted me to also be conscientious in the way I work as this was something my clients picked up on. As I began advertising my work more, I felt as though I needed a little more guidance and support in terms of the business side of things eg. how much to charge, paid advertisement, more info on weddings, and so I popped Charlotte a little message and she happily arranged a time for me to come in a fire a tonne of questions at her, making me feel so much better! She also offered for me to pop in and shadow her in the salon on a busy Saturday to gain more understanding and experience of makeup artistry in the context of a working day, which was super helpful! I was so grateful to have her time and support just a message away!

 

I continued to work mobile and create a large portfolio of work to show off to potential clients. Over the summer Charlotte asked for some support with clients in the salon - which I was obviously ECSTATIC about! I jumped at the opportunity to gain valuable experience in a salon environment and work along such an incredible team. Shortly after this, Charlotte asked if I would like to come in for a trade test with the prospect of a potential job at the end of it.

I couldn’t believe it!! Ever since my course I DREAMT of working alongside Charlotte and her team at the salon.

 

I have been working in the salon almost 6 months now and I have reduced my hours at my other part time job to go full time with makeup. Initially, I started at the salon as a ‘Trainee’ and have since been promoted to a ‘Junior’ position at the salon. As well as this, I have began working with HUGE brands such as Look Fantastic! I couldn’t be more grateful for the opportunities that have come out of my course with Charlotte, for the breadth of knowledge I have gained and the amount I have grown as an artist in a year. Not only that, but I’m beyond excited for all the exciting things to come out of the future while working as a full time makeup artist and alongside the CWM brand.

The course really gave me the fire in my belly as well as the confidence I needed to pursue a career in makeup and I would recommend it to anyone who’s even slightly interested. Just go for it! You won’t regret it."
